Saturday 5th April – Windsurf ***** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny.

Foil – 19.61 knot max, 18.63 knot ave., 14.15 knot hour, 15.99 knot mile, 36.99 km., 14.65 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Nalu 4.7.

A few had arranged to head down to The Dip in Felixstowe to make the most of a good breeze from the NE and a 11 o clock low water but when I checked first thing the wind wind was light and NNE a tad offshore! Then there was some messages on Whatsup around 9 saying some wingers were already at The Dip so I had a quick breakfast and headed down as parking is pretty limited and by the time I had driven there the wind had turned to NE and picked up, gusting over 25 knots, with walk to wall sunshine and a fairly smooth sea it looked perfect for my first open sea session since the 24th October last year! Ian had already changed from a 5 to his 4m wing, in fact both wingers were going out with 4m’s which made my mind up so rigged my 4.7. After taking a few pics I launched around 10.30 as a fin sailer came down and rigged 7m, he quickly realised that was way too big and changed to 6.2! It was fantastic to be back on the sea and the 4.7 was absolutely perfect but the sea was way bigger than it looked from the shore but I had loads of fun doing long runs out to sea and didn’t drop a gybe which was very pleasing:) As it was my first sea session for awhile I didn’t venture away from The Dip today just had fun with the swell and bearing off broad was great fun and was pleased with todays stats:) I was getting tired so didn’t want to push it too much so called it a day, I had been out abot 1.5 hours, not a bad turn out, one foiler, two fins, 5 wings and 3 / 4 kites a little further up the beach. Dan the kitesurfer was lucky when his harness broke put his kite was washed ashore near our launch spot with no damage, just a bit of a tangle!
Then homw nice and early to hear about Mags day, she had had a extra visit from Maeva as our son had taken our black cat to the vet as he had been fighting in the dark last night, just a bit of a painful tail, he has some medicine now! More wind tomorrow from the east but a little cooler so haven’t made my mind up what to do yet?
